Beefsteak Pie

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Flatten the beef steaks and season with mixed spices, salt, and pepper.

  2. Layer the seasoned beef in a baking dish, adding bits of boiled onion and butter between layers.

  3. Fill the dish about two-thirds full, sprinkling onion between each layer of meat.

  4. Pour 1 pint of boiling water mixed with walnut ketchup over the meat.

  5. Allow the dish to cool, then cover it with pastry, creating an ornamented top.

  6. Make a center ornament in the pastry to add more liquid if needed before serving.
