Wedding Cake Ornaments

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Beat the egg whites until almost stiff.

  2. Add half the sugar and ½ teaspoon of acetic acid; beat thoroughly.

  3. Add the remaining sugar and another ½ teaspoon of acetic acid along with flavoring; beat until smooth.

  4. Rub the cake with flour to remove crumbs and coat it with icing; set in the sun to dry.

  5. Fill tubes with icing and create a row of dots around the top edges; allow to dry.

  6. Use a smaller tube to connect the dots; when dry, add another row of dots and then the rail.

  7. Decorate the top by crossing lines and adding intersecting dots; build as high as desired.

  8. Dot the sides with points or scallops, building as on the top.

  9. Cut a piece of tissue paper 1.5 inches larger than the cake stand, pink the edges, and place the cake on it.

  10. Create a lace edge on the bottom of the cake by allowing the funnel to touch the cake at regular distances; let dry.

  11. Cover the bowl of icing with a wet cloth to prevent drying; if too stiff, beat in another egg white; if too thin, add more sugar.
