Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Rich cream
Adds fat, which makes the ice cream smooth and rich in texture.
Milk
Adds liquid and dilutes the fat slightly, keeping the base less dense.
Sugar
Sweetens the base and lowers the freezing point, keeping the ice cream soft.
Peaches
Provide fruit flavour and moisture that adds texture to the frozen mixture.

The step that matters

When half frozen, stir in the peaches and the remaining sugar. If the base is fully frozen, the peaches cannot be evenly mixed in. Adding them while partly frozen distributes the fruit and sugar through the cream before it sets firm.

Swap the peach

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (cream, milk, sugar):

  1. Vanillafits better
  2. Strawberryfits better
  3. Figfits about as well
  4. Peachthe original

Fit is the average pairing score against cream, milk, sugar. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
