Mutton and Tomato Pie

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 300°F (150°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).

  2. Cover the bottom of a baking dish with bread crumbs.

  3. Layer cold roasted mutton slices, then a layer of sliced tomatoes.

  4. Repeat layers, finishing with tomatoes and topping with bread crumbs.

  5. Season each layer with pepper, salt, and bits of butter.

  6. Bake for 45 minutes and serve hot.
