Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Break macaroni into small pieces.

  2. Cook macaroni in salted water for about 20 minutes.

  3. Drain the macaroni and layer it in a baking dish.

  4. Sprinkle each layer with grated cheese, black pepper, salt, and bits of butter.

  5. Continue layering until the dish is full, finishing with cheese on top.

  6. Cover the dish with milk.

  7. Bake in a 350°F (175°C) oven until browned.
