Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Butter
Browns lightly for a nutty aroma and rich flavor that carries the spinach.
Spinach
Provides the main body, color and earthy flavor of the dish.
Cream
Adds moisture and richness, binding the spinach into a smooth sauce.

The step that matters

Gradually add the cream while stirring. Adding cream slowly while stirring keeps the mixture smooth and blended. Dumping it in at once can cause uneven thickening or a grainy, separated texture.

Swap the spinach
