Crullers and Doughnuts

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Cut beef suet into small pieces and place in a pot that holds about 10 pounds.

  2. Add 1 pint of water and heat on medium.

  3. Stir frequently after the first hour; it will take about 3 hours to render the suet.

  4. Drain the rendered suet through a coarse towel and let it cool in pans or jars.

  5. Heat the suet until hot enough for frying doughnuts.

  6. Make the dough soft and cut it about ½ inch thick.

  7. Fry the doughnuts for 5 to 8 minutes, testing one to check if done.

  8. Drain the cooked doughnuts well in a skimmer.
