Ingredients
Directions
Scald the milk; let it cool to lukewarm.
Dissolve the yeast cake in the lukewarm water and add it to the milk.
Stir in 1½ cups of flour and beat well.
Cover and let rise until light.
Add sugar, salt, beaten eggs, mace, and melted butter.
Mix in enough more flour to knead the dough.
Knead the dough, let it rise again, then shape it.
Roll out into a strip ¼ inch thick, spread with butter, and roll up like a jelly roll.
Cut into 1-inch pieces and place them in a pan close together, flat side down.
