Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Cream
Provides fat, which makes the ice cream rich and smooth in texture.
Sugar
Adds sweetness and lowers the freezing point, keeping the ice cream softer and scoopable.
Raspberry juice
Supplies the main raspberry flavor and acidity, along with liquid for the base.

The step that matters

Dissolve the sugar fully before freezing. Undissolved sugar stays gritty and does not sweeten evenly. Sugar also lowers the freezing point, so an uneven mix can freeze unevenly and turn out icy or hard.

Swap the raspberry

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (cream, sugar):

  1. Vanillafits better
  2. Strawberryfits about as well
  3. Raspberrythe original
  4. Raisinfits about as well

Fit is the average pairing score against cream, sugar. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
