What each ingredient does

Concord grapes
Provide the juice, along with the flavor and color of the finished drink.
Sugar
Adds sweetness and balances the grapes' tartness.

The step that matters

Sealing hot bottles. Filling and sealing while the juice is hot helps drive air out of the bottles, which supports keeping the juice stable after it cools.
