What each ingredient does

Finely ground coffee
Provides the main coffee flavor and aroma as water extracts it from the grounds.
Boiling water
Dissolves the soluble flavor compounds from the coffee grounds and carries them into the brew.
Java coffee
Adds body and a deep, earthy flavor to the blend.
Mocha coffee
Adds a lighter, chocolate-like sweetness and aroma to the blend.

The step that matters

Gradually pour boiling water over the coffee.. Pouring slowly lets the water wet and saturate all the grounds evenly, so flavor is extracted uniformly. Pouring too fast can flood a channel through the grounds, leaving the brew weak in some parts and bitter in others.
