Veal Loaf

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 300°F (150°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).

  2. In a large bowl, combine the salt pork, rolled crackers, beaten eggs, butter, salt, pepper, allspice, and cloves.

  3. Mix thoroughly and shape into a loaf.

  4. Place the loaf in a baking dish and sprinkle cracker crumbs on top, adding bits of butter.

  5. Bake for 2 hours.

  6. Allow to cool, then slice and serve.
