Good Cough Syrup

  1. Boil the hoarhound in 3 pints of water until reduced by half.

  2. Strain the mixture and add 4 tablespoons of good tar.

  3. Boil for 15 minutes and strain again.

  4. Add ½ pound of loaf sugar and boil until it reaches a syrup consistency.
