Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

Prepare

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Line a deep dish with the rolled biscuit dough.

Layer and bake

  1. Layer some beef slices in the dish, sprinkle with salt and pepper.

  2. Add a small piece of butter, a few potato slices, and some cold gravy if available.

  3. Repeat layering with remaining beef, seasoning, and other ingredients until the dish is full.

  4. Cover with dough, leaving a slit in the center.

  5. Bake for 30 minutes.

Butter
Adds richness and moisture to the filling as it melts during baking.
