Caramel Cake

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Cream together 2 tablespoons of butter and ½ cup of sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Add 1 cup of flour and 2 teaspoons of baking powder, mixing until combined.

  4. In a saucepan, combine ½ cup of milk and 1 tablespoon of butter. Heat until the butter melts.

  5. Pour the milk mixture into the batter and mix well.

  6. Boil the remaining ½ cup of sugar and ½ cup of milk until thickened.

  7. Remove from heat and flavor with vanilla extract.

  8. Pour the caramel over the cake once baked.
