Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Crumble the hard or spoiled cake into fine pieces and remove any heavy bits.

  2. Soak the crumbs in milk overnight.

  3. The next morning, add baking soda, fruit, butter, and any other necessary ingredients.

  4. Mix into a common paste and cover the bottom and sides of a square pie pan.

  5. Pour the mixture into the pan and bake at 350°F (175°C).

  6. Ice the top if desired.
