Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Boiled rice
Forms the bulk of the filling and absorbs juices as the bird cooks.
Clarified butter
Adds fat that carries flavor and keeps the filling moist.
Raisins
Add sweetness and soft chewy pieces that contrast with the spices.
Grated onion
Contributes moisture and savory sweetness as it softens during baking.
Coriander seed
Provides a warm, citrusy aroma that flavors the filling.

The step that matters

Place the stuffed bird in a small closed pot and bake until the juices run clear when pierced.. A stuffed bird takes longer to cook through, and the filling must reach a safe temperature. Piercing to check that the juices run clear helps confirm the thickest parts are fully cooked before serving.

Swap the raisin

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (chicken, rice, onion, butter, orange, pepper, ginger):

  1. Lemonfits better
  2. Limefits better
  3. Coconutfits better
  4. Raisinthe original

Fit is the average pairing score against chicken, rice, onion, butter, orange, pepper, ginger. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
