Apple Juice in Jugs
Ingredients
Directions
Heat the apple juice in a kettle to 190°F (88°C).
Set the jug in a half-barrel or tub to catch overflow.
Fill the jug until the juice flows over the top to remove air.
Use a 2-inch wood plug to expel juice for corking.
Cork the jug quickly, driving it down ½ inch below the top.
Seal the corked jug with a wax made from paraffin and rosin.
Stamp the identifying mark on the wax before it hardens.
