Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Gelatin
Sets the cream into a firm, sliceable structure as it chills.
Whipped cream
Adds air and richness, giving the set cream a light, creamy texture.
Strawberry juice
Provides the main flavor and liquid that the gelatin sets.
Sugar
Sweetens the strawberry juice and balances its tartness.

The step that matters

Add the hot strawberry juice to the softened gelatin. Gelatin must be fully soaked and then dissolved in hot liquid to set evenly. Lumps or undissolved gelatin leave a grainy, weak set. Whipped cream should only be folded in after the mixture has cooled, because heat melts the cream's air and can cause it to deflate.
