Cheese Straws

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point. The book gives no cooking times either; the times in the steps were added in transcription, so check for doneness rather than trusting the clock.

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Grate the cheese and mix it with flour, butter, salt, pepper, and mustard powder.

  3. Add enough water to form a dough.

  4. Roll out the dough and cut it into strips.

  5. Place the strips on a baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes until golden.

  6. Serve warm, especially with salads.
