Potato Pie

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point. The book gives no cooking times either; the times in the steps were added in transcription, so check for doneness rather than trusting the clock.

Prepare

  1. Wash and peel the potatoes, then cut them into slices.

Assemble and bake

  1. Add the diced mutton or beef and the dripping to the potatoes.

  2. For a different flavor, add a boned and chopped bloater with the fat.

  3. Season the mixture with pepper and salt.

  4. Cover the mixture with pastry.

  5. Bake in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 1.5 hours.
