Stewed Dried Apples

Pick over the dried apples and wash them in cold water; drain.
Soak the apples overnight in enough cold water to cover them.
Place the soaked apples and the soaking water into a well-glazed earthenware pot or stone jar.
Cover closely and simmer until the apples are tender.
