Decorated Ham

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Choose a fresh, smoked ham with a soft skin.

  2. Cook the ham and let it cool, then trim it nicely around the edges.

  3. Uncover the bone and fasten a paper cuff around it.

  4. Cut small squares into the skin at the front end, spaced evenly.

  5. Fill the squares with white lard using a knife.

  6. Create a star or statue shape from red or white jelly.

  7. Chop additional jelly to resemble diamonds and place it along the edge of the star.

  8. Make a border of laurel and lemon around the star.

  9. Use lard to create decorative designs on the smooth parts of the skin.
