Ingredients

Directions

  1. In a small saucepan, mix egg yolks and powdered sugar with a wooden spoon for 5 minutes.

  2. In another saucepan, heat cream, milk, and vanilla until boiling.

  3. Gradually pour the hot mixture into the egg yolk mixture, stirring continuously for 5 minutes without boiling.

  4. Remove from heat, pour into a bowl, and let cool completely.

  5. Remove the vanilla stick and strain the mixture through a fine strainer into an ice cream freezer.

  6. Place the freezer in a tub filled with cracked ice and rock salt, and freeze briskly for 30 minutes until firm.
