Ingredients

Directions

  1. Place the lemon ice, champagne, maraschino liqueur, and vanilla in a freezing pot embedded in ice.

  2. Freeze the mixture, stirring thoroughly with a spatula.

  3. Gradually add the egg whites of Italian meringue paste while vigorously mixing.

  4. If the mixture is too stiff, add a little more champagne to achieve the desired consistency.

Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Lemon ice
Provides the base body, sweetness and acidity of the punch.
Champagne
Adds liquid that keeps the punch loose and adds a light, bubbly character.
Egg whites
Whipped into meringue paste, they add airy lightness and a smooth, softer texture.
Maraschino liqueur
Adds sweetness and a distinct cherry-almond aroma.

The step that matters

Adding the egg whites while mixing. Meringue paste must be folded in gradually and mixed vigorously so it disperses evenly. Adding it all at once can leave lumps and uneven texture in the frozen mixture.

Swap the vanilla

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (lemon, champagne, egg):
