Of Gilding Gum Paste

  1. Dissolve and strain gum arabic until very clean.

  2. Grind it with nearly an equal quantity of white sugar candy until stiff.

  3. Use a hard pencil to spread the mixture on the parts you wish to gild.

  4. Once dry, breathe on the part and apply the gold leaf.

  5. After the gold has dried, remove any excess gold with a fine hair pencil.
