Directions

  1. Divide the gum paste into principal colors: white, red, blue, and yellow.

  2. Make compounds of green, violet, dark orange, and pale orange.

  3. To model a rose, use green paste for the calyx and yellow paste for the heart.

  4. Attach the heart to the calyx with a wire.

  5. Mix saffron with gum Arabic to imitate seeds.

  6. Roll out red paste thinly and cut out leaves with a tin cutter.

  7. Shape the leaves with a modeling tool and attach them around the heart.

  8. Push the calyx into a mold and finish to imitate nature.
