Household Bread
Ingredients
Directions
In a clean pan or wooden trough, place the flour and make a hole in the center.
In another pan, mix the yeast with warm water and salt, then strain it through a sieve.
Add a little flour to the yeast mixture to achieve a batter-like consistency.
Pour the yeast mixture into the hole in the flour, sprinkle some dry flour on top, and cover with a cloth.
Set in a warm place to rise until the top cracks.
Once risen, mix in enough warm water to form a dough that is neither too stiff nor too slack.
Knead the dough thoroughly until it feels tough and springy, then shape it into a lump.
Leave the dough in the pan with a little flour on top to rise for about 30 minutes.
