Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Ripe red-cheeked peaches
Provide the main fruit flavor and aroma, plus pulp that gives body to the ice cream.
Heavy cream
Adds fat, which makes the ice cream rich and creamy and keeps ice crystals small.
Eggs
Egg proteins thicken the cream base and add richness to the custard.
Sugar
Sweetens the ice cream and lowers the freezing point, keeping it soft and scoopable.

The step that matters

Heat the custard only until boiling, then strain. Overheating egg-thickened cream can curdle or scramble the eggs, leaving a grainy texture. Straining removes any cooked bits so the base freezes smooth.

Swap the peach

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (sugar, cream, egg, almond):

  1. Vanillafits better
  2. Raisinfits better
  3. Figfits about as well
  4. Peachthe original

Fit is the average pairing score against sugar, cream, egg, almond. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
