Instructions for Making Flowers in Caramel Sugar

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Prepare dip-models made of lead attached to a wire hook.

  2. Drive two iron rods into a thick board, three feet apart, and stretch a wire between them.

  3. Oil the lead models and place them on a clean dish.

  4. Boil the sugar until it reaches the crack stage.

  5. Add food coloring to the sugar at the last stage of boiling.

  6. Dip each model in the sugar up to the edge, avoiding overflow.

  7. Hang each dipped model on the wire to cool and stiffen.

  8. Pinch off a small knot of sugar at the pointed end to form the stalk.
