Corn Bread

Oven, in the book's wordsA hot oven

Ingredients

Directions

The book says “a hot oven”. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps is the modern equivalent, not the book's own figure.

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Grease baking sheets or pie plates.

  3. Pour the corn muffin or corn gem mixture into the prepared pans, about ½ inch thick.

  4. Allow to rise for 15 minutes.

  5. Bake in the preheated oven until golden.
