Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Preserved peaches
Provide soft, sweet fruit pieces that add moisture and flavor to the ice cream.
Vanilla ice cream
Forms the creamy, frozen base that holds the fruit and pecans throughout.
Pecan nuts
Add crunchy texture that contrasts with the soft fruit and creamy base.
Brandy
Adds aroma and flavor; alcohol also keeps the ice cream softer when frozen.

The step that matters

Do not chop the fruit too small. Large pieces keep their shape and texture in the frozen ice cream, while very fine pieces dissolve into the base and make it taste muddy and lose the fruit's distinct bite.

Swap the nuts

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (peach, orange, pineapple, brandy, vanilla, cream):

  1. Almondfits better
  2. Chestnutfits better
  3. Pistachiofits better
  4. Nutsthe original

Fit is the average pairing score against peach, orange, pineapple, brandy, vanilla, cream. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
