Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Ripe peaches
Provide the main fruit flavour and most of the texture of the ice cream.
Sugar
Sweetens the ice cream and softens its freezing point so it stays scoopable.
Gelatin
Helps set the mixture and gives the ice cream a smoother, firmer body.
Cream
Adds fat for a rich, smooth texture and a creamy mouthfeel.

The step that matters

Dissolve the gelatin fully in the hot water. Undissolved gelatin forms gritty specks or weak spots once chilled, so it must be completely dissolved before it is added to the cream.

Swap the peach

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (sugar, gelatin, cream):

  1. Vanillafits better
  2. Strawberryfits better
  3. Raspberryfits about as well
  4. Peachthe original

Fit is the average pairing score against sugar, gelatin, cream. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
