Collecting and Preparing Grass Seeds

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Gather the seeds from dewy grass at sunrise using a hair-sieve.

  2. Spread the seeds on a sheet and dry them in the sun for two weeks.

  3. Gently beat the dried seeds with a wooden pestle in a mortar, using straw to separate the chaff.

  4. Winnow the seeds to remove the chaff.

  5. Add dried marigold flowers, apple leaves, and hazel leaves to the seeds in the mortar.

  6. Pound the mixture until the seeds appear bright, then winnow again to clean them.
