Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 300°F (150°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Break the macaroni into pieces and boil in hot water for about 15 minutes.

  2. Drain the water and layer the macaroni in a deep dish.

  3. Sprinkle a layer of cracker crumbs and add bits of broken or shaved cheese.

  4. Season with coarse sea salt and continue layering, leaving space for a top layer of cracker crumbs.

  5. Pour enough milk over the layers to moisten them.

  6. Bake in a slow oven at 300°F (150°C) for 45 minutes.
