To Preserve Milk
Ingredients
Directions
Fill clean, dry bottles with fresh milk from the cow and cork them tightly.
Secure the corks with pack-thread or wire.
Place a layer of straw in the bottom of a boiler and arrange the bottles with straw between them.
Fill the boiler with cold water and heat until it begins to boil.
Remove from heat and allow the water to cool completely.
Once cool, remove the bottles and pack them with straw or sawdust in hampers.
Store the hampers in the coolest part of the house.
