Toasted Cheese

Toasted Cheese

Oven, in the book's wordsA brisk oven

Ingredients

Directions

The book says “a brisk oven”. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps is the modern equivalent, not the book's own figure.

  1. Gather leftover pieces of puff pastry and roll them out evenly.

  2. Sprinkle grated cheese over the pastry.

  3. Fold the pastry in thirds, roll it out again, and sprinkle more cheese on top.

  4. Cut the pastry into desired shapes with a paste-cutter.

  5. Bake in a 400°F (200°C) oven for 10 to 15 minutes.

  6. Serve immediately on a hot napkin.
