Balloons From Turkey's Crops

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Remove the thick layer of fat from the turkey crop.

  2. Turn the crop inside out and wash away the food.

  3. Soak the crop in water for 1-2 days.

  4. Lay it on a cloth and scrape off the internal coat with a bone or knife.

  5. Wash it well and dry it with a clean cloth.

  6. Make an incision through the external coats without cutting the membrane.

  7. Draw the coats over the neck, cutting it long for convenience.

  8. Tie it securely with silk and cut close to the body.

  9. Distend the crop with air and hang it up to dry.

  10. Optionally, paint and varnish the balloon if desired.
