Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Pork chops
Provide the main protein; browning builds flavor on the surface while slow simmering keeps the meat tender.
Olive oil
Conducts heat and helps the chops brown evenly in the skillet.
Water
Creates steam and moisture under the lid so the chops cook gently without drying.

The step that matters

Simmer for 45 minutes. Once covered on low heat, the liquid must stay gently simmering; too much heat can toughen the meat and evaporate the liquid, leaving the chops dry.
