Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Gelatin
Sets the liquid into a firm, sliceable block as it chills.
Orange juice
Provides the main liquid and fruity flavor of the set block.
Grape juice
Can replace orange juice, supplying the liquid and fruity flavor.
Vanilla
Adds a rounded aroma that softens the sharpness of the fruit juice.

The step that matters

Dissolve the gelatin completely. Gelatin must fully dissolve in the hot liquid before chilling. Undissolved granules leave gritty spots and weak patches, so the block may set unevenly or feel grainy.

Swap the grape

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (orange, gelatin, vanilla):

  1. Figfits better
  2. Pineapplefits better
  3. Blueberryfits better
  4. Grapethe original
