Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Refrigerated pizza crust
Forms the rolled outer dough that bakes into a golden, chewy wrapper.
Smoked cooked ham
Provides the savory, salty filling that flavors each slice.
Mozzarella cheese
Melts to bind the filling and add creamy, stretchy texture.

The step that matters

Pinch the seam and place seam-side down. A well-sealed seam keeps the filling inside while baking, and seam-side down helps the log hold its shape instead of unrolling in the oven.

Swap the mustard

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (ham, mozzarella cheese):

  1. Tomatofits better
  2. Onionfits about as well
  3. Capsicumfits about as well
  4. Mustardthe original

Fit is the average pairing score against ham, mozzarella cheese. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
