Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs
What each ingredient does
- Uncooked rice
- Absorbs the wine and water as it cooks, becoming tender and forming the base of the dish.
- White wine
- Supplies the cooking liquid and adds acidity and aroma as the rice simmers.
- Shrimp
- Provides the main protein; it firms and turns opaque when stir-fried briefly.
- Broccoli florets
- Adds crisp-tender texture and fresh flavor when quickly stir-fried.
- Mushrooms
- Release moisture and savory flavor as they brown in the hot pan.
- Parmesan cheese
- Adds salty, savory flavor and a sharp finish when tossed through the hot rice.
The step that matters
Stir-fry the shrimp briefly. Shrimp cook quickly and become rubbery when overcooked, so they should be stir-fried only until just opaque over medium-high heat.
