What each ingredient does

Hearts of palm
Provides the main body and mild, delicate flavor of the soup.
Whipping cream
Adds richness and a smooth, velvety texture to the blended soup.
Vegetable broth
Forms the liquid base that carries the flavors and gives the soup its volume.
Onion
Builds a sweet, savory aromatic base as it softens in the oil.
Leeks
Contribute a mild, sweet onion-like flavor to the soup base.

The step that matters

Blend until smooth, then gently reheat. Blending hot, starchy vegetables gives a smooth texture, while boiling cream can cause it to separate. Gentle heat keeps the whipping cream silky and stable.
