Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Rice
Forms the thick body of the pudding as its starch cooks into a creamy mass.
Milk
Provides the liquid that cooks with the rice to create a creamy, pourable base.
Eggs
Thicken the pudding gently when stirred in and heated, adding richness and structure.
Cream cheese
Adds richness and a smooth, tangy body to the pudding.
Cornstarch
Thickens the pineapple juice into a clear, glossy sauce when heated.
Sugar
Sweetens the pudding and adds to its soft, creamy texture.

The step that matters

Adding the beaten egg mixture. Eggs can scramble if added to very hot rice. Stir the mixture in steadily, then cook gently while stirring constantly so the eggs thicken the pudding smoothly instead of curdling.
