What each ingredient does

Pinto beans

Kielbasa sausage
Adds savory, smoky flavor and fat that seasons the beans as it cooks.
Chopped onions
Build a sweet, savory base as they soften and release flavor into the sauce.
Tomato sauce
Adds acidity and body, thickening the liquid into a rich sauce.
