Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs
What each ingredient does
- Fresh corn
- Puréed, it forms the smooth topping and adds body and natural sweetness.
- Whole milk
- Adds richness and moisture, helping the corn purée turn smooth and creamy.
- Boneless skinless chicken breasts
- Provides the main protein; simmering in broth helps keep it moist.
- Onions
- Soften and sweeten as they simmer, adding savory depth to the filling.
- Sugar
- Adds sweetness and helps the topping brown under the broiler.
The step that matters
Watch the broiler. Sugar and the starch in the corn topping brown quickly under high heat, so it can scorch within moments. Check it closely and stop once it is lightly browned.
