Ingredients

Directions

Prepare the filling

  1. Cook potatoes in water until soft about 15 minutes. Drain well and mash.

  2. Add eggs, onion, garlic, salt, turmeric, cinnamon and parsley. Mix well.

  3. Combine chicken, cinnamon and pepper. Set aside.

Shape the cakes

  1. Spread flour on cutting board. Put mashed potato on the board and flatten into a 3 inch wide by 2 inch deep by 1 foot long log.

  2. Make a trench down the center of the log.

  3. Put the chicken into the trench, then pinch the trench shut, covering the chicken.

  4. Cut the log into 8 round patties. Dust with flour.

Fry and serve

  1. Heat oil in skillet and deep fry until golden brown.

  2. Drain and serve. Can be served like a hamburger or just eaten with a side dish.

Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Potato
Forms the bulk of the cake, giving a soft, starchy body once cooked and mashed.
Eggs
Bind the mashed potato and filling so the cakes hold their shape.
Chicken breast
Provides the protein filling sealed inside the potato shell.
Flour
Dusted on the board and patties so the outside dries and browns during frying.

The step that matters

Pinch the trench shut fully. If the potato is not sealed over the chicken, the filling can leak out and burn in the hot oil, and the patty may crack or fall apart while frying.
