Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Cream cheese
Forms the creamy, dense body of the cheesecake filling.
Eggs
Set during baking to give the filling structure and firmness.
Sour cream
Adds moisture and a tangy note that keeps the filling smooth.
Semi-sweet chocolate chips
Provide chocolate flavor and firm up the crust and swirled batter.
Cream-filled cookie crumbs
Bind with melted margarine to form the crumb base.
Raspberry preserves
Add fruity sweetness and acidity that contrasts the rich filling.

The step that matters

Bake at 325 °F for 1 hour 25 minutes. Slow, moderate heat lets the egg-set filling cook evenly without cracking or curdling. Baking too hot causes the surface to puff and crack as it sets, so the timing and temperature matter.
