Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Ground beef
Forms the savoury shell that holds the filling together as it cooks.
Breadcrumbs
Absorb moisture and help the meat mixture bind into a firm shell.
Eggs
Bind the smooth filling and help it set when baked.
Sweet potatoes
Provide the bulk, moisture and body of the smooth filling.
Brown sugar
Adds sweetness and helps the filling brown slightly as it bakes.
Milk
Adds moisture and softness to the filling, giving a creamier set.

The step that matters

Spoon the filling into the uncooked meat shell. The raw meat shell must stay intact and cold. Pressing it firmly and chilling it first keeps its shape, so the smooth filling does not break through or mix into the beef during baking.

Swap the sweet potato
