What each ingredient does

Boiled potatoes
Form the bulk of the layers and give the casserole its body.
White sauce
Adds moisture and creaminess that keeps the layers from drying out in the oven.
Grated cheese
Melts into the sauce and browns on top, adding richness and flavor.
Shelled shrimps
Provide the main seafood flavor and a tender, delicate bite.
Hard boiled eggs
Add richness and a soft, firm texture to the filling.
Bread crumbs
Form a crisp, golden topping over the casserole.
